The Library Assistants keep the library going.

When you enter the library, you will be greeted by a Library Assistant behind the circulation desk. These students volunteer their study hall time throughout the school day to assist students and faculty in the library. Our mission is to make the Library Media Center a great place for students to research, study, and read.

Students are trained to assist in the everyday operation of the Library Media Center and, in the process, aquire marketable skills. They assist at the circulation desk, photocopy, answer phones, shelve books, process new materials, and assist students on computers. Assistants also maintains a display case and runs contests to promote reading in the school.

The Library Assistants are one of the most active organizations in Penn Hills High School, as these students spend time working in the library almost every day. The organization is diverse and includes artists, musicians, writers, honor students, and more in grades nine to twelve. Most importantly, Library Assistants love to read!
