Students Win Big Read Community Engagement Contest
Two senior library assistants entered the Big Read Community Engagement Contest and won in the high school project category.
Their entry, along with other winners', was displayed at the closing ceremony at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum on April 23. They attended with family members and each received a Kindle, books and other items.
The students, Lauren Williams and Angelica Walker, gave an acceptance speech at the event describing the inspiration for their entry, which consisted of the various posters, bookmarks, articles, and other promotional materials they created to promote the Penn Hills Big Read event.
The closing event also featured a documentary film about the city-wide Big Read initiative, musical preformances, and a dessert reception. In this photo, Lauren and Angelica pose with newly-elected CCAC President Dr. Quintin Bullock.
